Spring Break

Are you ready to enjoy your spring break in just a few weeks? You definitely deserve it! Here are some safety tips we want you to be aware of:

  1. Keep a form of identification on you. Whether you are traveling back home or to a vacation spot, always keep an ID on you to ensure you don’t get stranded somewhere.
  2. Don’t travel alone. There is power in numbers so staying with a group is the best way to avoid being a victim of a crime.
  3. Be careful with money. Be sure to create and stay within your budget. Overdraft fees add up fast. Only carry small amounts of cash on you during your trip.
  4. Use caution when sharing your location on social media. Sharing too much may endanger your personal safety.
  5. No means no. Get consent and practice safe sex.

Did you know that you can volunteer your time during Spring Break? Check out Bobcat Break, a Leadership Institute program that allows students to travel to communities and engage in service and experiential learning during university breaks. These short-term service trips provide an all-inclusive opportunity for students while providing a learning experience on issues such as culture, environment, homelessness, hunger, literacy, and poverty. These trips are life-changing for students who attend. The application for Bobcat Break is typically available at the end of February. Find more information and sign up for Bobcat Break on the Service & Leadership Institute page on the Student Involvement website.
