Building a Professional Network
At this point in your educational journey at Texas State, start thinking about and building your professional network. These are individuals who will help you achieve your career goals. Also, these individuals do not have to exclusively be at Texas State. Consider attending a professional conference from your discipline where you can meet others who inspire you.
Consider an internship where you can widen your professional network with individuals who are in your desired profession. Finally, connect with a faculty member who can serve as a mentor and can connect you with other professionals or activities that will widen your network.
Pro Tip: There are scholarships you can apply for to attend professional conferences. It’s worth asking a professor in your discipline to see if they have any suggestions.
