4 College for Newcomers

Faculty can help new students transition successfully to college by using College for Newcomers, a free Open Educational Resource (OER) designed to support students in their academic journey. This resource is perfect for sharing during orientation, coursework, or student support services, as it covers essential topics like goal setting, time management, academic integrity, and communication skills. In addition, it introduces important themes such as Indigenous peoples and Truth and Reconciliation, anti-racism, gender diversity, and neurodiversity, offering students a well-rounded understanding of diverse experiences. With interactive activities, reflection prompts, and practical examples, College for Newcomers equips students with the skills they need to thrive both academically and personally in a North American college setting.
