15 Healthy Boundaries

Healthy Boundaries

Setting boundaries is very important when it comes to your mental well-being and success as a student. This includes having discussions about boundaries with family members, friends, and roommates. Everyone has different expectations around boundaries which is why expressing and honoring these discussions is important. Although it is not easy, it is essential to practice when to say “yes” and when to say “no”.

Setting boundaries can help you avoid burnout and will enrich your experience at Texas State. As finals approach, it is important to communicate to those around you and your family that you may not be as available over the next few weeks as you prepare to further focus on your academics.

Although that conversation with your family may not be easy, Thanksgiving break is a great time to explain to your family that your academics take priority over the next few weeks as final exams approach. Having these conversations will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed and burnt out as the stress of finals and grades increases.
