Hello, my name is Amy Gantt.  I am an Associate Professor at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and I am Chickasaw. The Chickasaw Nation is located in the southeastern portion of Oklahoma.   The Chickasaw Nation is headquartered in Ada, Oklahoma with the boundaries of the Nation covering a 13-county area.  Current estimates show the tribal enrollment to be approximately 76,000 citizens worldwide (State of the Nation, 2022).  Chikashshanompa’, the language of the Chickasaw people, is spoken fluently by approximately 35 individuals (Chickasaw Times, 2022).
